One of the worst ways to enjoy a meal with family and friends is to guilt yourself over a big feast and feel bad about enjoying it.
A day or two of enjoying your meals has been proven to not lead to much weight gain. In fact, a study that overfed participants by 1000kcal daily for a week above maintenance calories only showed modest weight (0.9kg) and fat gain instead (0.6) [1,2].
Thus your progress will not be affected by overeating a meal or two with your loved ones! [1,2]

The most important thing for your health is what you do consistently on a week-to-week or day-to-day basis which involves being adequately nourished, managing stress, sleeping well, and enjoying movements.

Some practical tips to enjoy holidays the best way!
If you are someone that finds it easy to eat beyond satiety, select water over sugary drinks and select smaller plates.
Zero-sugar food/dessert options are also a great choice!
Why not go for a walk to the park outside with family or friends or volunteer to walk the dog if you are visiting someone with pets?
Consider incorporating video games that involve physical movements like Wii or Xbox 360 if available.
If you opt for meal catering services, consider under-catering to reduce food waste and save money, your wallet will also thank you!
Avoid any food that you are allergic to any foods that you might be intolerant to or know will make you feel uncomfortable.
